Finishing our unit on melody and harmony, the 6th graders had a great time singing Halloween songs to help them define their vocab. terms! This week they took their summative test on the different ways we make (and don't make) harmony.

6th graders are experiencing harmony through canons, countermelodies, partner songs and chordal harmony!

6th graders are reviewing the many ways of vocal music, from a cappella to accompaniment, unison, melody and harmony, singing is an adventure!

This week we are exploring a Brazilian samba (A Zing-a-Za!) and making harmony with countermelodies.
September 12-16, 2016
6th graders are singing about The Loud and the Soft of It (crescendo v. diminuendo), took a quiz on musical mapping as they've learned the symbols for D.S. (Del Segno) al Coda as well as the symbol for measures of rest; other vocab. terms include interlude and time signature.

Our 1940's style Dancin' on the Rooftop introduced new vocabulary, from music theory terms (counting measures of rest and musical interlude ) to Jazz terms (scat, Big Band, Swing).
